Classic Cloth featured in New York Times

Citing what's hot for home decor this fall, New York Times columnist Marianne Rohrlich selected Kansas company Classic Cloth as the front page feature for the September 18th Home and Garden Section.

Rohrlich highlights the Plainville, Kansas roots of this luxury fabrics manufacturer and it's co-founder/designer, Chuck Comeau.  Photographed with the article is Classic Cloth's new textured sheer "Briar".  Comeau designed "Briar" by magnifying a detail of fine Belgian lace to crate an abstract pattern in heavy cotton for a new curtain fabric.

Comeau was one of the founding partners of Classic Cloth which was created in 1997 as a natural outgrowth of the highly successful and respected furniture line, Dessin Fournir.  All fabrics are designed in house and milled in 20 different locations across the world, according to Kim DaGue of Classic Cloth.  The fabrics are sold to the trade via 14 representative showrooms across the U.S. and Canada.

"This is our first exposure in the New York Times.  We are working to keep their attention turned toward Kansas, specifically the economic opportunities available in rural America," stated Comeau.  Classic Cloth's customer service and warehouse employ 11 local residents and are housed in renovated buildings along Plainville's business district.  Comeau is a principal of Liberty Group, the primary developer for the Chestnut Street District in historic downtown Hays, as well as one of the founders of C.S. Post & Co. and www.CSPost.com, a retail store located in the district.
