Dollar General Store opens in Stockton

The new Dollar General store in Stockton is now open for business and providing goods that have been unavailable in Stockton for some time.  City Manager Dan Sarian, who was instrumental in getting Dollar General to agree to come to Stockton, was one of the store's first customers.

The store is located one block off Main Street on south Spruce Street.  There is over 6,000 sq. feet of floor space available for merchandise display and nearly 1,000 sq. ft. for storage.  They carry paper items, grocery items, clothing, as well as an array of general merchandise.

Roger and Jackie Roy, builders of the store,  credit city manager Sarian's progressive vision for Stockton in getting them and Dollar General together to make this happen.  The Roys would also like to acknowledge the City of Stockton, the Stockton National Bank and the SIDC for working with them to make this a reality.

The Neighborhood Revitalization Plan in Rooks County also allowed for the building owners to take advantage of a tax rebate program that will allow for considerable property tax savings over a ten-year period.
