The landscape around Rooks County

While it is commonly perceived that all of Kansas is flat, Rooks County is a testament to the fact that there is a variety of landscape made up of rolling hills of prairie, river valleys, lakes, and skies that never end.  If beauty is in the eye of the beholder, there are over 2.7 million Kansans who think what we have is Kansas is indeed a sight to behold.

The following are some pictures taken in the Rooks County area of Northwest Kansas.

"I am not so sure but the prairies and plains,
while less stunning at first sight, last longer,
fill the aesthetic sense fuller,
precede all the rest, and make
North America's characteristic landscape."
Walt Whitman, 1878
