New name and new vision for hospital
from the Stockton Sentinel

The former Plainville Rural Hospital is now known as the Rooks County Health Center.  The new name reflects a new vision for the hospital as plans move forward for a new hospital building.

A contract has been accepted by Ben Quentin of Hays for position of Hospital Administrator.  His new duties will begin in the middle of February.

With the administrator's position filled and the hospital board working on filling the director of nursing position, the board's vision of a new hospital is moving forward.

At the last Plainville City Council meeting, the City voted to make a land swap with the hospital for approximately forty acres located one mile north of the four-way stoplight at the corner of the first intersection on the east side of the highway.  The hospital board is now in the final stages of the paperwork with a landowner.

The next step for the hospital board will be to travel to Washington D.C. to submit their HUD application for the new hospital.

After the application is approved, there will be public meetings scheduled around the area for anyone who would like to know more about this venture as well as have their questions answered.  Notices will be published in the papers as to when and where.

If all goes well, the hospital board could be breaking ground for a new facility in the late fall.
