New swimming pool under construction in
Plainville
November 1, 2010
Construction
has begun on the new Plainville Swimming Pool, and barring any lengthy delays,
should be open for the summer season in 2011.
The old city pool was built in 1958 and was in poor repair. At an August 3, 2010 election, the city patrons voted overwhelmingly to proceed with the new pool. A 1 cent sales tax was approved and will be used to pay off the bonds used for construction.
Features of the new swimming park will include a water slide, zero depth entry, shade areas, new bathhouse and restrooms, and an improved drop-off area.
A
public meeting held before the election gave townspeople the opportunity to ask
questions and have input into the new design.
