Plainville among communities to receive KDOC&H grant
The Kansas Department of Commerce & Housing announced that Plainville is the recipient of a Community Capacity Building award in the grant amount of $15,000. Nine Kansas communities and organizations will share grants totaling $128,000 for planning and implementation projects.
The
application was submitted in September with Citizens for Plainville's Future
spearheading the effort on the city's behalf. The purpose of the Community
Capacity Building program is to encourage collaborative community development
planning and plan implementation activities in the State of Kansas. The
KDOC&H provides planning and financial assistance for those
communities. The City of Plainville applied for a planning grant for the
purpose of developing a strategic plan for the future. A qualified
professional planner will facilitate the planning process.
Once the grant contract between the City and KDOC&H is signed, the City can begin the process of choosing a qualified professional planner to assist the City and the citizens of Plainville in identifying the needs of the community. Once the needs are compiled and documented, the strategic plan will be developed and goals will be set. The next step will be to develop budget estimates to present to the city council.
The Kansas Department of Commerce & Housing is the state's lead economic development organization, responsible for ensuring economic opportunities for all Kansans.
