Sand Creek Mercantile opens
in Stockton
from the Stockton Sentinel, October 21, 2010
Sand
Creek Mercantile store now open in Stockton takes a person back to the
carefree days of shopping in those quaint stores that people see while watching
TV shows like "Little House on the Prairie" or "The Waltons."
According to owner Cheryl Calvin, Sand Creek Mercantile is not your ordinary
store, It will feature unique items such as distressed furniture, chairs,
dropleaf tables, headboards, home decor and a host of other vintage items that
have already been "lovingly" used and are now looking for a new
home. The idea is to have "shabby vintage" or "out of
the ordinary" items for sale that people just can't find in Stockton or the
surrounding area. The stock will grow and expand according to what
people ask for, want or need. Or whatever happens to catch Cheryl's eye
when she is out looking for merchandise for her store.
Other
items on sale at Sand Creek Mercantile at this time include a full line of
candles, chairs, fabric remnants, a buffet, cigar boxes, candy, handmade
pottery, French doors, vintage metal toys and the unique feature of Cheryl's
vast array of framed pictures, greeting cards and photographs. The west
wall of the building will be dedicated to Cheryl's pictures for sale.
The goal of the store is to have the stock ever changing, so no two visits to the Sand Creek Mercantile will ever be the same. Or people can just stop in for some friendly conversation, and pass the time of day.
Sand Creek Mercantile is located at 316 Main Street in Stockton. They can be reached at 316-761-0421. The business hours are 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, and from 10:00 a.m. to noon on Saturdays. Cheryl plans to be open later on Thursday evenings after Thanksgiving with a variety of unique Christmas items stocked up for the holiday season.
