The following
are pictures of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Zurich, KS.
(click on thumbnail for larger picture)
St. Ann's Church is located in
Zurich, Kansas, a town of
approximately 134 residents, located approximately 30 miles
north of the city of Hays (population 20,000) and Interstate 70.
The city of Plainville (population
2,047) is located 8 miles to the east.
The church has not been used for
several years, but is still in very good condition. The
rectory has been removed from the grounds (was connected to the
church by the arched breezeway shown in the pictures). The
parish hall is adjacent and is a basement facility.
The pre-application to place the
church on the National Register of Historic Places was approved,
but the formal application was never submitted.
Total acreage is approximately
2.3 acres.
The pictures above show the
interior and exterior of the church, as well as the adjacent
parish hall. The church and hall are heated by boiler system
(pictures shown). The hall is air conditioned with window
air conditioners (shown), but the church is not air
conditioned. The heating units shown are in the church along
the exterior walls.
Appliances shown are in the
kitchen area of the parish hall and are in working
condition. The floor in the kitchen area is tiled, but the
majority of the hall is painted cement (paint is in poor
condition, but the concrete is in good condition).
The only bathrooms in either
facility are in the parish hall, up the staircase shown in the
picture. There are restrooms for both men and women.
Most of the fixtures such as
statues, stations of the cross, vestments, candles, fonts, etc.,
will be removed from the church before it is sold. An organ
is currently in the church, but the donor has asked that it be
returned to them upon the sale of the church.
The last few pictures are of the
surrounding homes and fields around the church.
Webster
Lake and State Park are located 10 miles to the north of
Zurich via a paved county road.
