Groundbreaking for Stockton Estate Apartments

Although dirt and foundation work has already begun on the Stockton Estates Apartments, the official groundbreaking ceremony for the facility took place on Thursday, March 17th at 1:30 p.m.  Present for the ceremony were Stockton Estates builder Wes Bainter, and his daughter Dr.Raquelle Bainter, as well as many other officials, dignitaries, and residents of Stockton and Rooks County.

After everyone was assembled and pictures were taken, Stockton City Manager Keith Schlaegel addressed those present by talking about how the project had come about and how much work and planning had been put into the idea of having an independent living facility in Stockton.  Schlaegel credited former city commissioner Twila Sander who was very persistent in urging him to look into Bainter's other projects.  Bainter credited the progressiveness of the city, the county commission, and Stockton National Bank.  He also thanked Maxine Green for allowing them to use the property that was located where Bainter insisted that the new complex needed to be.

This new senior independent living complex is scheduled for completion by winter 2011.  The complex will contain 8 apartments with attached private garages.  Located at 206 S. 2nd, Stockton Estates will be positioned ideally near the business district and directly adjacent to the new medical clinic that is also under construction.
