The exercise equipment, which was purchased two years ago by the Stockton Recreation Commission for the town's wellness center, has found a home in the former Rooks County Health Center Clinic on Main Street. The Stockton Recreation Commission has now opened the Stockton Recreation Fitness Center to the public.
They have moved all of the equipment in, which includes a set of free
weights, twelve isolation machine weights used for upper and lower body
workouts, three exercise balls, inclining treadmills, elliptical bicycles, three
stationary bikes, a Stairmaster, etc. The equipment is divided between two
rooms and is set up in such a way as to maximize the space and group together
the same type of machines. Most of the 3,200 square feet of the building
is being utilized with padding laid down for extra cushion.
The Recreation Commission has established membership prices for a variety of needs. Single memberships are $15/month; Member & Spouse, $25/month; Member & Family, $35/month. An Annual Single Membership is $150; Member & Spouse, $250; and Member & Family, $350. A Guest Daily Rate is $5, and Guest Weekly Membership is $10.
A keyless entry swipe card system is in place that allows people to use the facility at their convenience and it will be activated when memberships are paid.
Two dressing rooms with sinks, two bathrooms and plenty of lockers are housed toward the back of the building. Those wanting to use a locker will need to bring their own padlock for items like tennis shoes and towels that they would like to store at the center. These lockers will not be assigned, but can be chosen by the individual when they join. It should be noted that there are no showers on the premises.
