New housing construction begins in Plainville

Last Updated 8/5/2025

Construction has begun on the new housing development on the former site of Rooks County Health Center on S. Colorado Street.  The groundbreaking took place on June 25, 2025.  The new home is part of the Moderate Income Housing (MIH) program and is being constructed by Red Mountain Construction and Development out of Hill City.  The homeowners are benefitting from the new housing incentive program sponsored by the NW Kansas Economic Innovation Center.  The owners of the new home will be the Trujillo family from Colorado.  More information on the Innovation Center Housing Incentive program can be found on the homepage.  A second home will be constructed at a later date.
